Firing at the Sky is a harder edged rock band with groove/metal leanings but pop melodies.

Their new self-titled album, released August 31, 2016, has quickly gained attention from both industry and fans alike.

Recipients of Rawlco Radio’s Project 10K20 funding and a Creative Saskatchewan Commercial Sound Recording Grant, their track “The Purpose” is receiving airplay on local radio stations, including Saskatoon’s Rock 102 (Rawlco Radio) & Reginas 104.9 The Wolf", and has been included on the SaskMusic Compilation “InTune 2016.”

We are extremely proud and honored to be part of this selection of fine Saskatchewan music and for the opportunity to have our music promoted and distributed to Canadian and International media and industry professionals.”

Holed up in rural Saskatchewan, not by choice but by sheer resistance to the grid and all its evils, former Morally Sound frontman Kris Klyne, Brad Heck with his brand of drive and percussive flare, Rich Strelioff (Lead guitar, Beard of Doom) and Nathan Saggs (Bass, flair for the dramatic) tap into instinct, presence and experience to deliver a strong, hard hitting but reflective record that does not let up through all 10 songs.

Recorded with Ryan Andersen at Red Door Recording (Saskatoon) and mastered by Justin Bender (Into Eternity, Third Ion), Firing At The Sky is destiny, soul and spirit wrapped in a tortilla shell then deep fried and placed inside a pita which is filled with melody, passion, love and sage wisdom then put in a hollowed out French loaf and baked at 385F until crisp.

It has hook. It has drive. And, it has heart. A blend of catchy, thoughtful and head bobbing rock with a metal edge. Pounding beats, soulful harmonies and interesting guitar melodies that weave and intersect to tell a story.

With their succulent live show and stunning visual video pairing, the band’s sound to sight is sure to take the listener across a journey of emotions.
Get ready, as it’s time for some Firing At The Sky!

Kris Klyne - Vocals/Guitar

Kris Klyne’s musical styling’s started in 1992 with the progressive dark metal band Aggressive Evil. The band’s debut release earned 4 out of 5 stars in a review by the nationwide publication M.E.A.T Magazine. An impressive feat for a teen recording music in his parents’ basement.

From there, Kris founded the band Morally Sound (1997-2004), which was akin to bands such as Tool and Helmet. Morally Sound achieved much success – winning the C95/C-Plus Songwriting Competition (2000) with their single “The Wanting” and sharing the stage with bands such as The Smalls, Nickelback, Big Sugar, Matthew Good, the Headstones, Wide Mouth Mason, I Mother Earth and The Watchmen. Morally Sound had two self-released CDs: “Compressed” (1999) and “The Hatred Left Behind” (2001).

In 2010, the band The Divided was born. Within the band’s first year, they had won a local band wars competition (including best bass player and best vocalist awards), and opened for Katatonia.

Rich Strelioff - Lead Guitar

Rich has had the pleasure of playing music with many different people in and around the Saskatoon area for the last 25 years. Self-described as an aggressive, expressive rock and roll guitar player, his musical approach is simple, "You just gotta live in the moment and go for it, cause sometimes those moments live on forever."

Rich’s experience includes playing in the band Warthog and he currently plays guitar/vocals in the Alice Cooper tribute band, Caught in a Dream.

Nathan Saggs - Bass

Nathan Saggs started playing various instruments including Bass, Guitar and Drums at the age of 13.

Nathan has played with a number of local rock acts, most notably being Slab Drab from 1994-2005. Slab Drab has released 3 full length albums and have shared the stage with many acts including: Nazareth, Honeymoon Suite, Harlequin, Trooper, April Wine, Streetheart, Lee Aaron and Slik Toxic.

Slab Drab was a favorite amongst the university crowd and their sophomore CD entitled ‘Soda Pop Superstar’ was ranked the #1 indie album in SK for 1999 according to Soundscape Magazine.

Nathan loves all genres of music and currently plays bass with the Alice Cooper tribute band ‘Caught in a Dream’.
